A duck prepares himself for an encounter with a female of the species.

If a creeper explodes in a forest…

If a creeper explodes in a forest, does anyone hear it?

Here I am testing the FRAPS demo on my Windows 7 partition, which only records 30 seconds at a time. This is enough time to find a creeper in Minecraft and avoid dying to his explosion.

This was ridiculously hard to create using free software, because all the programs I tried to use to slow down the video also removed the audio. I had the extract the sound and slow it down in Audacity, then re-encode it onto a slowed copy of the video. It was difficult, but here it is. Me surviving a creeper explosion.

Snow in the City

We had our first major snowfall of the year last week. This video shows the mid-day light flurries in the air, from a point of view on top of a parking garage. There was about 8 inches total over two days, although much of it has melted since then.

Rainbow Fountain

A rainbow appeared as I walked around this fountain in Congress Park, Saratoga. No leprechauns in sight – is this where a pot of gold is hidden?

Afghanistan Iraq Monument

In honor of the branches of the United States Military and to those who served. Dedicated in honor of those who served and sacrificed with courage, dignity and patriotism during the Afghanistan-Iraq wars and the global war on terrorism. Monument erected in Congress Park, Saratoga Springs, New York.

Ducks!

Although the rules said not to feed the ducks, I was there in the park with a handful of breadcrumbs. Not enough to get them to lay eggs mind you, just a treat to get their attention for the camera. And I wasn’t the only one! At the end of the video you can see they almost had me surrounded, but I was able to break away from the flock.
